I asked a few friends for their opinions at school today (since they are all much more musically inclined that me) and they told me Western actually seems more popular in comparison. Because while korean music is popular, its only one portion of the asian pop culture (and the rest of asian pop is pretty dead here now, so...). And yeah, Singapore Idol sticks to english songs, but there are a couple other music-talent shows that are targetted at the chinese or malay populations instead of the whole nation, hence the songs sung on those shows are chinese and malay respectively.
